I don't understand how this girl who has proven herself in the past to be a good actor, can be so bad in these movies. She just seems akward saying her lines, compeltely unnatural. I don't know. I guess it's because when I watch the OT I don't spend my time worrying about the acting, I'm caught up in the characters and the story, basically meaning I'm not distracted by bad acting. But you know it's bad when it detracts you from the movie. Hayden wasn't much better. Ewan though was fantastic. Like I said, I don't have anything against Natalie Portman, I just don't think she did well at all in this one. Leia's lines never seemed forced. Well, ok, except maybe in the beginning of ANH when she was acting all British. Oh, and the only Leia line that wasn't exactly the best acting was, "We, uh, ran into some old friends." Probably not her fault, just a cheesy line in general.

I didn't think she was that bad. I have a feeling she was either trying to 'be Leia's mother' or was told too. I think she was trying to hard to make the aduience believe she was Leia's mother. It came across to me a little forced. There were a lot of tie in's to the OT and well then to have her acting like Leia and Hayden sort of acting like Luke and maybe a little vise versa. I left there seeing how they could be Luke and Leia's parents but with that and all the other hints to the OT it might have been a bit too much. I have to admit that I have only seen it once and need another few viewings to get over that overwelmed with information feeling. Maybe after that I won't feel like so much was pushed at me all at once.
