I thought I was the only one

You guys are the best.  For the longest time, I thought I was like, the only one who loved Han and Leia.  I loved Star Wars as a kid, and fell in love all over again one boring summer when I bought a book, you all know it, and most hate it, but COPL.  (it's why I can't hate that book, it reintroduced me and made me a fan again.  Though the more I think about it and hear from you guys, the more I think it's not nearly as great as I thought it was when I read it when I was 16) Then I found out that there were all these other books out there, and I had to get them.  I loved it.  Then one other boring night, while trying not to do work in college, I finally stumbled upon what has become my Han/Leia savior.  Isn't fan fiction the greatest?  I never knew what I was missing in the books until I finally got to read some stuff that gave me just what I was looking for: more Han and Leia.  And, perhaps even more surprisingly, there was a lot of it.  And MOST of it was well-written.  Two years later, I still check all these websites almost daily for new material.  Then I find all you people with the same obsession I have.  What would we do without the internet?  I was so happy to find so many others as interested as I am.  Not so long ago I thought I was the only one who cared about it at all, and now I find that a lot of people are far more obsessed than I am.  Makes me feel a lot better.  

Anyway, just wanted to say how nice it is to find so many others share in my obsession.  And it's so great to be able to come somewhere and talk about it.  Like I said, I thought I was the only one.  Nice to know I'm not.  Not by a longshot.

I found out about fan fiction when we invested in a computer.   I couldn't believe what was out there.  I have love Star Wars since May 1977!   My husband thinks I am a little too obsessed.   I tried to keep up with all the ost ROTJ books but raising a family doesn't leave much time.   The net and this forum have made it simple to spend a short time in my 'escape' and then I can go on in the real world.

You know, when I saw Star Wars in 1978 (my mom thought I was too young for it in 1977), I immediately wanted Han and Leia to get together.  Why?

Because I thought Luke was cuter and I wanted him for myself.  <br>
But, after seeing the chemistry between Han and Leia in TESB... I wanted them together because they belonged. (Later, I could see how evident it was in ANH, but as I said, I was young when I saw ANH.)

It's nice to find a place to discuss Han and Leia and to express my deep concern over the elevation of non-canon EU "Mary Sue" chicks over the Princess of Alderaan!

Hey,
I just wanted to say that I absolutely agree with all of you. I fell in love with SW when my dad first bought the Special Edition ones for me and my brother when we were little-ish, and I thought H/L were the cutest couple ever. Then I sort of matured a bit and I saw how they were so much more than that: they are, in my opinion, the epitome of an ideal relationship. (Or, at least, the were before the EU started butchering their relationship...*sigh*
Also, I totally agree about the Mary Sue's. Grrr.
AND: fanfic is the niftiest thing ever! I never would've thought there would be other people like me who wanted to see more H/L stuff...it's SO nice to know I'm not the only one, to quote everyone else!!!
