I am outraged. Many of you have probably heard me say at some point that I hate Nsync with a passion. News of their cameo has pushed me over the edge. Where was I when Star Wars turned into a teeny bopper's fantasy? Why does GL, RM and crew seem to think this is OK? I fully realize their screen time consists of one unrecognizable second, but just knowing that they're in there makes me want to chuck up the bagel i had for lunch. I'm not one to leave Star Wars over George's poor decisions (and lets face it, there have been a lot). I saw TPM 9 times in the theater, Jar Jar and all. I grit my teeth while Greedo shoots first and I move on. But this really takes the cake as the crappiest thing Lucasfilm has done. I'll rant more when I finish my work.

Hey Toryn, Let me say for the record that I HATE N'Sync. I do not consider them anything more than flash in the pan entertainers who got lucky. Now, having said that, I have to say that I am not bothered at all by the news that they will be playing Jedi in Episode 2. Why? Two reasons. 1. By the time they are supposed to appear (according to reports), who's gonna have the presence of mind to recognize them? 2. They are Star Wars fans. They are living the Star Wars dream. They are going to appear in a Star Wars film. Samuel L. Jackson got to do it also. No, I'm not comparing Samuel L. Jackson to N'Sync at all. I just don't think it's that big a deal--IMHO, of course. They aren't important enough to me to distract my focus from the rest of the film. <br> May the Force be with you.

I consider N'Sync to be completely useless. I don't necessarily hate them; I just don't think about them. I feel the same way about Britney Spears.
I agree with RebelHawk. They won't even be credited (you have to have at least one line to receive a credit) and they'll appear so briefly in a crowd scene you'll have to really be looking for them to see them.
Lucas has made some decisions regarding SW that I don't like or agree with, but they don't ruin my enjoyment of the movies. IMO they'll only do that if you let them.
I don't consider this to be pandering to teenyboppers. I really doubt that it will draw in fans who wouldn't see the movie otherwise; N'Sync fans can watch videos and such anytime they like. Unless they're also SW fans, they aren't going to plunk down 9 or more dollars to see some members of the band in a blink-and-you'll-miss-it cameo, in which they get killed.

Unfortunatly I have a lot of experience with die-hard Nsync fans. My younger sister (who's 12) is about as teeny bopper as they come. She's convinced she's going to marry Justin, or at least meet him and have an affair with him. She would go see AOTC, nsync or no nsync. But with the cameo, she'll go see it until she manages not to blink and she's able to see them. Great for Lucas, horrible for the Star Wars' diminishing reputation as a classic film series.

SW's reputation as a classic series is diminishing? I had no idea. From what I can tell it's still considered a classic series by an awful lot of people.
The latest news says that the cameo (which was not Lucas' idea anyway but Rick McCallum's) may be edited out.

I have to agree with Shelley. I doubt N'Sync is powerful enough to diminish Star Wars in any way, shape, or form for the legion of fans across the globe. Remember, the (in)ability to sing off key "N'Sync" with 4 other pretty boys is insignificant next to the Power of the FORCE! ;D

MY TEN YEAR OLD IS THRILLED. I COULD CARE LESS. ONE LOUSEY SECOND WHERE WE HAVE A SNOWBALLS CHANGE IN HELL AT EVEN SPOTTING THEM IS BESIDES THE POINT. THE ONLY REASAON THEY ARE IN IT IS BECAUSE HIS DAUGHTERS LIKE THE GROUP. HEY ITS HIS MOVIE. I'M LOOKING FORWARD TO LOOKING FOR A LOT MORE IN IT THAN NSYNC. HEY IF THEY ARE JEDI DON'T FORGET THEY WILL BE KILLED ALONG WITH THE REST DURING THE PURGE!!! ;D

Actually, starwarsfan, the cameo didn't come about because Lucas' daughter is a fan; that's been tossed around as fact even though the cameo wasn't even Lucas' idea, it was Rick McCallum's.

You know, once the fervor of this whole N'Stink news dies down, people will forget. And I don't think that anything could diminish the stature of Star Wars (the phenomenon) in our culture.
It seems to me that no matter what George does, someone, somewhere on the world wide web is going to blow it all out of proportion. (I'm not speaking of this board... I've been hopping around other boards, reading reactions.) Oh well. 8)

Yes, the OT is still widely regarded as a classic trilogy. However, whether we liked TPM or not, the general public certainly does not think of it as being up to par with the OT. In my experience, TPM made it embarrasing to be a Star Wars fan. It seems to me like Nsync will only make it worse. Its already been blown out of proportion, and I'm afraid it will only get worse. My sister can't wait for AOTC so she can see the "hot jedi." Here's an article from MTV, which doesn't bother to mention that 1) you can't see them unless you go frame-by-frame though the DVD or 2) that many Star Wars fans are super pissed. www.mtv.com/news/articles/1451630/20020102/n_sync.jhtml?headlines=true By reading it, a teenybopper could easily infer that they are totally visible, and this is a major thing.

I agree, Toryn. I hate it when I talk to people that hate Star Wars when they only have seen Episode I. N'Sync is going to degrade things further. I always tell people to watch the OT for the true Star Wars.

Read the Lucas Girls thing on the E! entertainment page when I first heard that the boys were going to be in the movie. As well as hearing it on several radio stations morning news reports.

Thanks for the back up Toryn. I knew I wasn't crazy. Only George is for putting them in there. I figure it this way. There will be no way we will even be able to find them unless someone releases pictures of their scene. Or when it comes out on DVD and someone bothers to look scene for scene to find them. I won't be looking. I always go to the first showing I will be looking at the movie as a whole the first few times I see it, i'm certainlly not looking Nsync.

Hey, maybe if we are lucky, those pretty boys will end up on the cutting room floor. Crushed by large ships... or zapped by battledroids... who knows? 8)
